Michigan Leaders to Discuss Voting Rights, Civil Rights, and Criminal Records
Neeley, Young, Thomas to Lead Discussion
As the nation is gripped with protests and questions about the future of policing, three leaders from Michigan will discuss “Expungements, Pending Legislation, and Who is Eligible to Vote.” This powerful discussion will be open to all on Facebook.
“Voting Rights is the genesis of the Civil Rights movement in this country,” state Representative Cynthia Neeley (D-Flint) said. “Our American history changes when voting rights changes, and our history has been fraught with women, African-Americans, Indigenous peoples, and prisoners fighting for the right to vote. That fight continues, and when people vote they shape their future. I’m excited about tomorrow’s discussion and encourage everyone share their voice and participate.”
