The Michigan House Criminal Justice Committee met Tuesday, Jun 4th, 2024 for a hearing on Messiah’s Law.
The two-bill package of legislation is designed to increase penalties for firing gunshots at an occupied building if a minor is injured or killed.
Democrat State Reps. Cynthina Neeley of Flint and Amos O’Neal of Saginaw introduced the bills in honor of 3-year-old Messiah Williams of Flint, who died from when suspects opened fire on his residence in October 2020.
